I've been hearing raves about King G for a while so I decided to grab lunch on a Saturday when I had an event in the afternoon. At 12:45, I was the only customer, so I was helped promptly. The cashier gave me several suggestions and I settled on a corned beef on rye and the deviled egg potato salad. Both were delicious! The service was very prompt and the space was attractive. If you decide you want a drive, you can take your lunch to the bar side of the business. Great concept!
King G's is very close to where my hair salon is and conveniently I try and make my appointments over lunch. They have a great assortment of sandwich choices, breads and condiments and the staff has always been helpful and super nice when I've asked questions. I always do a "to-go" order so I can't say much on ambiance but it looks nice in there. Give it a shot!
Great sandwich spot!! I love the open bay windows, and the music. I had to try the pastrami sandwich, and it was tasty. Next time I want my sandwich with heavy mustard and pickles, to increase the savoriness of the sandwich. Service is perfect, helpful with the choices. ***Flight Attendant approved***
We stopped by King G for a quick dinner before a concert at Grinders. The bar side was very busy and crowded but there were still plenty of seats on the deli side. I got the hot salami and provolone sandwich with a side of potato salad. Both were great. The sandwich had the perfect bread-meat-and cheese ratio. I would get this one again. All of the staff working were very friendly, helpful and overall had great customer service. I plan to return!
A great sandwich. Always happy with everything I eat at King G Deli. Turkey Saltimbocca Panini
This not just your typical bar. This is also not just your typical sandwich shop. King G serves some of the best sandwiches in Kansas City, along with being one of the top spots for adult nightlife. With two floors, two bars, and a small outdoor standing area, Kind G is always a popular spot on a weekend night. Feeling hungry after hanging out? Step into the King G Delicatessen. I have ordered the Hot Ham and Cheese sandwich an almost embarrassing amount of times! They have chips, drinks, and desserts that you can order along with your sandwich. The delicatessen opens at 11AM until 12PM Monday through Saturday (open later Friday and Saturday), which means you can grab lunch and dinner here whenever you'd like! 10/10 recommend going to King G for drinks with friends, and then stepping into the sandwich shop after.
My favorite part of King G is when the bar opens its garage door windows on a nice day. Nothing beats a flash of outside air during Kansas City's best days. The upstairs ground level is a welcome space. You can belly up to the bar or find seats at some of the island tables, but you can also walk around without issues, even when it's busy. The bar on the downstairs level is a little more exclusive, which is fine. I think it adds to the mystique. The drink menu includes a solid list of cocktail options paired with some of the best local beers. Food from the attached deli is better than good.
Now my bar hopping days are over, but if King G is any testament to bar going, I might have to come out of retirement. It's located on a corner just north east of Grinders and it has a very chill atmosphere. We sat at the bar and all the bartenders were super nice and very knowledgeable. She made me a very tasty sour cocktail and I forgot the name, but she made the best Long Island Tea I have had in years. The volume level was perfect and we could carry on conversations though there were other groups and overhead music. They also have a deli attached and after looking at that menu, I have to ho back to try it. Honestly delinot not, I'll be back with friends to hang out.
This place has a totally different feel on the inside, then it does to the outside! The outside is painted and looks edgy, but the inside js very industrial and modern. My friend and I came for drinks, and unfortunately we were disappointed. We love to have a yummy cocktail, and we usually lean to the sweeter side for drinks. Our drinks were extremely strong and I decided I couldn't even have my second cocktail. It tasted like a quadruple shot, no flavor besides the liquor, I opted for water! The food however was so so delicious! I definitely will be stopping here more to try the rest of their deli sandwich selections! The potato salad was also very delicious! Food 5/5, Drinks...I hate to say it but 1/5 if you are someone who likes a sweet cocktail! Our service was also phenomenal even though they were busy! It seemed like a full house or at least close to it and the staff kept making sure we were taken care of!
Made it back to King G for the first time in a while on a Saturday. The weather was nice out so we could sit partly inside and outside. Service was quick to get to us and staff was friendly. Drinks were really good. I had a margarita and we also got a gin and cranberry. The Marg was solid. Since we wanted something light to eat we got the charcuterie board. To me, it was mid. Not the best I've had. I would get another food item next time. Love the seating options inside though and when the windows can be opened up.
